Welcome
Jane graduated with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in Fashion and Textiles from the University of the West of England, Bristol, in June 2007. After more than 25 years working as a public health nurse with the NHS, this was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and ambition. During her degree Jane specialised in hand and machine knitting. She now designs and constructs one-off knitted garments and accessories. She also makes wall-hangings in silks and cottons in contemporary designs.
Inspired by the work of Margaret Macdonald and Renee Mackintosh, Jane’s work combines the beauty and colours of nature with geometric shapes of modern technology and architecture. Using asymmetrical shapes and layers her work has a quirkiness that is both unique and original.
Jane’s garments are made from natural yarns such as viscose, wool, silk and hemp so creating a variety of textures within her work. Standard-bed and Passap knitting machines are used to produce the designs. Her techniques include intarsia and the manipulation of stitches.
Each item is individually produced and is a piece of art in itself.
